Week Three – Exploding Snowballs
Pour contents of plastic baggie (baking soda) into a bowl and mix it with about ¼ cup of cold water. Mix, mix, mix! Add vinegar about halfway up a tall, clear glass. Add food coloring if you have it. Swirl contents to mix. Have your child make snowballs out of the baking soda mix. You can make one giant one or a bunch of smaller ones. It depends on the reaction you want. If you really want a bubbling reaction, add a few drops of dish soap to the colored vinegar. Make sure you have a cookie sheet under the glass to catch any overflow. The results should be a slow-rising dense foam that will make you ohh and ahh.
