Join Bennington Public Library for an afterschool program at Glacier Creek Nature Preserve!

Kids learn best by doing and this opportunity to capture butterflies and beetles, dipnet for creek crayfish and caddisflies, utilize microscopes, binoculars, and other scientific tools is a great way for them to get to know the ecology of this restored tall grass prairie, all while developing their S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) skills.

Session One, September 8th, 4:00 PM-6:00 PM
Sweep-netting for Insects: Capture & ID strange and familiar insects & arachnids!

Session Two, September 15th, 4:00 PM-6:00 PM

Dip-netting in the Creek: Capture & ID macroinvertebrates from the creek!

Children under 7 years old will need to be supervised by an adult. A small snack (apple, granola bar & fruit gummies) will be provided. Kids should wear long pants and closed-toed shoes that can get dirty. Bring a water bottle to bring with you into the field!

We will meet outside the Barn at Glacier Creek Preserve, 14810 State Street, Bennington, Nebraska 68007.
