SUMMER READING 2021

This summer’s theme is “Tails and Tales”! Join us for a summer full of reading, prizes, and fun events at the library.

Readers of all ages can track their reading from May 22nd through July 31st. Here are the steps for how to use Reader Zone:

Install the app or visit readerzone.com

1. Search for “Reader Zone” in your app store.
2. Install the app on your Android, Apple, or other device.
3. Click “Sign Up” and create an account.
4. Pick your Account Type: Reader or a Parent.
5. Add your reader’s name.
6. Enter Bennington Public Library’s 5 character reading code:

  1. Click the reading group that your reader will be joining.
  2. You’re signed up!
  3. From here, you can add a book, or skip that step.
  4. You can now track your reading progress by minutes.

For every 5 hours (300 minutes) you read, you’ll earn both a prize & ticket for the end-of-summer finale drawing.

After reading 20 hours (1,200 minutes), you’ll earn a FREE book of your choice!


Summer Library Events & Activities for Children k – 5

Registration is required for activities at the library. Click the buttons below to view registration forms for each age group. You may pick and choose which activities your child will attend.


Summer Elementary STEAM

Tuesdays @ 10:30 AM or 1:30 PM (June 8 – July 27)

  • Hands-on activities, games, and concepts of science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
  • This program lasts for 45 minutes.

Wednesdays at 10:30 (June 9 – July 28)

June 9 – Wildlife Encounters – Meet exotic animals (all ages welcome)
June 16 – Bank of Bennington – Fun money activities
June 23 – Author Bruce Arant – Illustration Workshop
June 30 – Center Stage Dance – Physical Fitness & Dancing (all ages)
July 7 – Author Demetria Ballard – Self-Esteem & Confidence
July 14 – Barreras Family Farm (all ages welcome)
July 21 – Michelle Smith – Scientist
July 28 – Mrs. M. – Music with a Message (all ages welcome)


Summer LEGO Club

Wednesdays @ 1:30 PM (June 9 – July 28)

  • Build, explore, and collaborate with fellow LEGO enthusiasts on a creation of your own!
  • Ages 6 and under will require either a parent or older sibling to attend with them.
  • This program is open to all ages.
