The Bennington Public Library is excited to offer a summer internship to interested high school and college students. This experience will expose the student intern to the varied areas of library work, including: customer service, collection development, children and youth programming, technology, and administrative work. Hours are flexible, but our intern can expect to be at the library approximately 8-10 hours a week, depending on schedule and library needs. We are pleased to offer our intern a $1000 stipend, made possible through a grant from the Nebraska Library Commission.

The minimum requirements for the position are as follows:

• Be either a high school or college student with an interest in library work 
• Have never been employed as a staff by a library (previously or currently)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills 
• Ability to work in a team setting, take direction, and show initiative
• Familiarity with technology
• Comfortable working with members of the public
• Excellent customer service skills
• Be available to work at least 8 hours per week through May, June, and July (Scheduled time off can be pre-arranged.)
